community outreach / education

Emerald Ensemble is Bristol's professional chamber orchestra - we provide innovative outreach and education projects for our community.

Past projects include the following...

  • percussion and creative music workshops with the City Academy in St George - culminating in performance partnerships at the 2005 Bristol High Sheriff's Gala Concert
  • cabaret with Bristol Cathedral School
  • a City of Bristol College Photography project
  • music workshops with elderly clients
  • Magdala Opera Start project in Nottingham - a week long workshop of projects introducing young people to opera and encouraging them to produce their own compositions that are then incorporated into a final day evening performance (2004-7).
    (see www.magdalaopera.com)
  • Chipping Sodbury Festival - Workshop compositions. In just 2 hours, groups of children produce a composition based on a day in the life of the Amazon rainforest, capturing morning, hunting, rain and evening celebrations all linked together by a native song from the forest (2007).
  • Colston Hall family concert and workshops: Magic and Mystery 2007.
  • Colston Hall family concert and Schools concerts 2008
  • St.George's Childrens concerts series Autumn 2008
  • Childrens Christmas Carnival St George's 2000-2007
  • Introduction to the instruments concerts.

We're keen to bring creative and performing arts to those who may not normally have access to the experience, and invite interested organisations to discuss options and possibilities with us.

We are available to hire for public or private concerts and recitals, recording, film and TV music, educational programmes
and multi-media projects. We are able to put together programmes to suit most tastes, venues and budgets.
